40th birthday cake

I love butter cream icing cakes but I'm not so good at dry icing a cake. Here's a 40th birthday cake with butter cream.

Happy 12th birthday Jacob!

November 10th was my sons 12th birthday. He's played baseball since he was 4 so of course we did a baseball cake. No fondant this time, just plain ole buttercream. It was awesome!

Everybody's gotta do one. :)

Boob cake! Lol This was for a bunch of truck drivers at a concrete business here in Knoxville. Needless to say they loved it. :)

Pool time

Obviously this isn't about swimming pool time considering it's the end of October and 50 degrees outside. Yesterday was my friend John's birthday. We play on a pool team together and he also plays one other day during the week on another team. So I made an 8-ball cake for him yesterday. I love working with fondant. It's so easy to do and you could care less how sloppy the icing is underneath because you don't even see it. :) Since it was down in black fondant I was also able to do chocolate icing (which is really hard under white fondant BTW because it shows through.) Here ya go!

Previous cakes

Since posting a whole new blog for each cake we've done will be nothing short of a pain, I'm just going to throw them all into one post. Here goes... First cake I ever did was for my son's 9th birthday. Angry Birds! After this, I was hooked and kinda pulled Tia into it with me. Now she's hooked too. :)
Then it was on. (Just so you know the cakes that do not have a cake topper are ones that were requested like that because the customer had a topper of their own. We don't just leave ya hanging like that with a boring top. :)) 1st birthday Mickey Mouse
My daughter's 2nd birthday cake...The Little Mermaid
1st birthday Disney Cars
Hello Kitty cupcakes
And cake
Fancy Nancy (from a story book)
New York style sweet 16
This matched a Hell's Angels 1st birthday napkin
We made this for an anniversary present for Tia's now fiance. It's got Kit Kat sides and is supposed to have the entire top covered in M&Ms but she wanted the cute heart on top instead. :)
Dora the Explorer bottom layer. (Customer added her own toy on top.)
Country princess camo cake #1
Fall colored cake pops for East TNs Largest Bake Sale at Lighthouse Knoxville.
Peanut butter cups (also for the bake sale)
Chocolate dipped oreo pops
Mini cheesecakes
Halloween cake for the bake sale contest. We ended up selling it to benefit the Ronald McDonald house.
My dad's Atlanta Braves baseball cake.
1st birthday Halloween cake.
From now on I'll be posting the cakes as we do them so there's not so many at once. Feel free to email or text if you have any questions. Thanks! -Jennifer

Welcome to Fancy Specialties blog!

I've been trying to get around to doing this for a while and keep forgetting about it. Go figure. LOL This is a blog where I'll be posting all of our cakes and other desserts that we make over time. I'll also post upcoming specials and try to post some prices but it's hard to do with each cake being so different. Feel free to ask questions and check out our facebook page as well. A little about us: We currently work out of my home part-time. If business picks up obviously we will have to start looking into an actual "business site." For right now, this works for us. :) We're family and we get along great. Neither of us are really creative so this is a surprise to our family. We got a lot of kick back when we started cooking for family get togethers and now we don't get picked on as much. LOL Nah it's a family thing. Gotta know them. :) This is us...
What we do: We mainly do fondant icing cakes but will do just about anything for an order. (Or at least try. LOL) We've made pecan pies, cheese cakes, cake pops, you name it, we'll try it. Actual "cooking", we're not so good at but if a customer trusts us THAT much, we'll try. :) Since cakes go from one extreme to the next, I hate setting prices without seeing it. Since we are new, we don't charge and arm and a leg. You're more than welcome to send me a picture or idea of what you like and we'll reply back with a quote. Quotes and ideas are always free! So far we accept cash or check and I'm in the process of accepting credit cards as well. Movin' on up! Since we are working out of my home we're also offering to deliver to people outside of Knoxville as well. Inside Knoxville is always free and depending on weather and circumstances we can deliver for $0.35 a mile outside of the Knoxville area. Hope you enjoy the site and tell your friends! We will definitely work out a referral program! ;) Jennifer/Tia Fancy Specialties (865) 773-9895 fancyspecialties@gmail.com
